How was your morning coffee today? Do you even remember sipping it, smelling it, tasting it?

This past Friday evening, on International Women’s Day, a group of 33 women came together to celebrate the divine feminine with a ritual that was new to many of us: a sacred cacao ceremony to access inner guidance and strength. It was so powerful, I wanted to share how you can re-create this ritual for yourself every day.

Taking time for a conscious and intentional morning ritual is a beautiful way to start your day with an open heart and clarity, whether you want to use cacao, or any tea or coffee that is part of your morning already. It will help you to be more present to the power you have to make changes in your life that you feel you may be ready for, but may need more strength or courage to follow through on.

So, here’s how you do it.

Choose your sacred beverage and make it with consciousness.

Sit down and use a beautiful mug or cup and pour it consciously: smelling it, listening to the sound of the pouring water, seeing the steam rise and swirl in the air, feeling the mug warm as it fills.

Then place your left hand on your solar plexus or third chakra. It is responsible for confidence, self-esteem, willpower and inner strength. It is also the place we tend to hold, fear, judgment, self-criticism and anger. As you inhale, visualize bringing more light into this area; and as you exhale, release any stagnant or stuck energy that you may have there.

Then bring to mind a situation in your life you would like to cultivate more power around. Maybe it is an addictive or destructive behavior you wish to release, a negative thought pattern that is harmful for you, or something that is creating a block to your prosperous life.

Mentally affirm that you now surrender this issue to your higher self and ask that it be resolved in the highest and best way. This will help you surrender your thinking mind to your full intuitive wisdom and will prepare you to tune into the guidance that will help you on your journey.

Pick up your cup and smell it, feel the heat, look at its color, then sip it, taste it, feel the texture of it in your mouth. Feel yourself swallow it and feel it energizing and nourishing your body.

Then pull out your journal and free write for a page or two. Don’t think about what you are writing, just write stream of consciousness so you learn to tune into your inner guidance.

Do this every morning for 30 days and you will notice how much more intuitive you become and how much more power you have to make conscious choices to move your life in the direction you are wanting it to go.

Remember, you are a creator and the more you consciously choose to tap into the present moment, the more strength, freedom and joy you will experience.
